Encourage Wisdom:
Youth and Leadership

By Seyedeh Sahar Kianfar

The Youth Action Plans for the Women's Wisdom: Women in Action Conference held on September 18-1999, Dominican College, San Rafael, were a great success as two strong community projects have developed. The

main purpose of the Action Plan was to develop and expand support networks for youth to encourage them to explore the spiritual and value questions of life.

Project One: Community Service with an Interfaith Reflection: to develop a community service youth network in which youth can participate in short and longterm projects that will promote ethnic and religious diversity and tolerance. This project will work in co-operation with the MIYO Teen Center.

Project two: Youth Led Support Groups: to create a leadership training program which will blossom into organized support groups that explore important issues in youth's lives. This project will work in co-operation with The Marin Healing Center.

Although both programs are based in Northern California, we are very interested in fostering an international network of supporters with a desire to create the same

programs in their communities.

If you are interested in becoming involved in either projects or would like more information about our youth programs, do not hesitate to send us an email at youth@ias.org

Both programs will be sustained through monthly or bi-monthly meetings, which are open to all interested individuals from any age group. Future plans include an interfaith youth festival and an on-line dialogue.
